doug is a character! my dog loves him, and that is saying something big. as for the work-- i would give 6 stars if i could. last summer we moved permanently from our tribeca loft of 47 years to our stone ridge formerly-weekend-only house. so much needed to be done to get the house ready for full-time living, was kinda scary. first came the new roof— perfect. then, he transformed our basement from an always-flooded concrete storage junkyard to a beautiful living space — 100% dry!— that basically doubled the usable area of the house. and, we were originally worried that it might not get done in time for us to move in our tons of stuff before our hard move out date— he got it finished with time to spare— lifesaver! not to mention coming up with a plan to get my 600 pound canal street safe from the driveway down into the basement, which seemed impossible. then we have the renovation of both our bathrooms— which are now beautful, and several other smaller projects along the way. i was thinking he might become part of the family— terrific work all around, thanks very much!!!

Doug did a lot of great work for us to get our first home move in ready. He is friendly, knowledgeable, communicative, and delivers quality work quickly.

Doug also connected us with other local specialists to save us money on our septic and electrical. It’s really nice to have a local reliable network of people moving into a new neighborhood. Looking forward to working with Doug more!

Hi! My review is a little different experience from the rest.  I have not actually used Nostrand Home Improvement; but this review is a character reference about the owner.
I’m a local author writing children’s books about our familiar local mascots.  Doug called me up out of the blue; we had gone to High School together.  He lived. Close by rode my bus. I had not seen him in 45 years or more.  He asked if he could give me money,  so I could donate my books to a special Children’s Charity of my choice.
I donated to the Local Domestic Violence shelter  , Grace Smith House.  Then for Valentine’s Day,  he reached out again. I then donated books to the Abilities First.  Just one week ago,  he asked to be in my Children’s book; so I helped him create Beaver “Doug the Builder”.  With an amazing  yelp 4.6 rating,  a heart of gold I’m sure you will be very pleased if you hire Doug Nostrand at Nostrand Home Improvement!  He is a very Hard working Beaver and a Huge Heart! 💜

Doug Nostrand Home Improvements: we hired Doug to re-side our Roxbury, NY home, create a new porch entrance, replace and expand our back deck and to reconfigure the interior entryway and laundry area. In every part of the process, he combined keen attention to our wishes balanced with his extensive experience in what could work -- or work better than our plan. In each case, his input was key to the eventual overall success of the renovations, improvements and additions. Estimates and costs were always EXACTLY as forecast -- never a surprise. His crew worked steadily through difficult weather to complete the work. They all work to a very high standard and are respectful of your home and property. Doug's interaction with the town building inspector made permitting pass without issue. When a referral was needed in a trade he didn't offer, every firm recommended did exemplary work and at cost stated upfront.
